FAQs for new parents
Below is a list of questions frequently asked by parents who are new to the Club. If you have further questions, please contact us at GRshootingstars@gmail.com
When do the teams play games?
During the Fall, the Boys games are typically scheduled on Saturday, while girls play on Sunday. This means we are not in direct conflict with Glen Rock Rec soccer games. However, our teams will participate in tournaments which may require them to play on Sundays and make-up games may be scheduled on weekends or during the week. During the Spring, both boys and girls teams play on Sunday.
When do teams practice?
Teams will practice 2 times per week for 90 minutes each. The practice schedule varies by team and is based on the coach’s availability and more importantly, the availability of the trainer. During the week, practices may start as early as 4 or 5 p.m. for the younger teams and as late as 6:30 or 7 p.m. for our older teams.
When will you notify parents if their child has made the team?
For tryouts for the next season, it varies but usually at or around the conclusion of the Spring Season. If a player is trying out for an available spot on a team during the season, we try to notify them within a week or two (if not sooner).
How much does it cost to join the Shooting Stars?
The the annual fees range from $700-$900 and encompass the Fall and Spring season. Costs may vary per team depending on the number of tournaments they enter and additional training throughout the year.
I thought soccer was a fall sport only?
The Shooting Stars participate in the Northern Counties Soccer Association, which plays during both the Spring and Fall season. In addition, many teams are also active through the winter in indoor soccer tournaments and leagues. At the same time, we also try to accommodate, within reason, children who play other sports, especially during the spring.
